CALL GROUP CALENDAR

1.DO NOT CALL THE LONG TERM CARE ON-CALL PHYSICIAN DIRECTLY. INSTEAD, FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW. To speak with a physician about a long term care patient, please check whether their most responsible physician (MRP) is part of the Longterm Care Initiative - see Physician List, below. If so, refer to the Long-term Care Initiative on-call schedule available here to find out whether to call the MRP or Lions Gate Hospital switchboard (604-988-3131).

2. When you call 604-988-3131, the switchboard operator will tell you the name, and phone or pager number of the on-call physician. Note down this information.

3.The switchboard operator will also transfer you directly to the on-call physician

4.If the on-call physician does not answer, leave a voice mail message (if possible).

5.If the on-call physician does not return your call promptly, please do not call the switchboard operator again. Instead, follow your facilitys standard procedures, which may include calling the on-call physician again, calling the patients most responsible physician, calling the facilitys medical director, and/or using your judgement about next steps.
